Semi-finals of the 2010 Champions League, FC Barcelona under Pep Guardiola faces Inter Milan under José Mourinho. At a time when Barça seems untouchable, it is then the beginning of a crisp rivalry between the Spaniard and the Portuguese which will result from this shock. This clash between two styles of play was a real shock for the Titans which will forever be remembered in football history. First leg: Inter Milan 3-1 FC Barcelona. Second leg: FC Barcelona 1-0 Inter Milan
But the second round will not go as planned for Barcelona. Yet well helped by a severe expulsion of Thiago Motta shortly before the half hour mark, Guardiola's men come up against a Milan defense once again well organized by Mourinho. Gerard Pique's late goal in the 84th minute would even lead to a second goal from Bojan moments later, but a hand from Yaya Touré whistled just before would negate the feat.
Final score 1-0, Barça is eliminated and José Mourinho has finally won his tactical battle. This double confrontation will remain bitter for Barça, as he was successor to his own Champions League crown. After removing the favorite from completion, Inter will subsequently win the final against Bayern Munich, again with a defensive strategy made in Mourinho.
